Founded by Kevin Collins, Brenda Collins, and partner Alex Clark in 2008, Bit Stew Systems grew from a small, Burnaby-based startup into an Industrial Internet of Things powerhouse, eventually being acquired by GE Digital in 2016 in a cool $210M exit. Throughout its journey, Bit Stew faced the typical growth and funding challenges, including expanding into international operations, three rounds of venture-backed financing (the second being led by its eventual acquirer, GE Digital), and landing some of the biggest customers in the business.
Obviously the set-up and culmination of the acquisition presented their own unique issues, one of the most daunting challenges came post-acquisition: the prospect of becoming someone else’s employee again. Join serial entrepreneurs Kevin and Brenda as they share the story that lead to the acquisition of Bit Stew, and about life after acquisition and working for the acquirer.
The presentation will be followed by a CEO networking reception with complimentary food and drinks.
